Ramblings, just ramblings

So, the advocate against videogame violence is now out of vogue.

Lawyer and videogame violence against guy Jack Thompson is now being turned on by people that he once regarded as allies. The news that the National Institute of Media and Family has distanced themselves from Thompson is a letter asking him to stop laying claim to them as a ally. This was only a few days after Thompson had proposed a challenge to the gaming developer community to make a game based on his proposal. The proposal itself, violent and in the same realm of the games he advocates against, shocked many people.

A couple of groups had taken up the task, one being the writers of hte blog Old Grandma Hardcore, which released a text-based adventure based on the idea. Another nail in the coffin was the creators of the popular webcomic site, Penny-Arcade, donated the promised $10,000 to charity that Thompson used to dangle in the faces of the videogame developers as ransom for making his insane game.
While the heat is on, Thompson now denies that the idea ever existed in the real world, saying that it was a satirical idea and a falso promise if such game was made. This, after hundreds and hundreds of e-mails were answered by the Florida attorney saying he was 'entirely serious in his proposal'.

Which is it Jack? I mean, to withhold money for charity as a weapon is bad enough, but after you start to lose your support, or the support you thought you had, why the backpedal? It just makes you look like the slime that you propose to be in the eyes of the media.

While the NIoMF claims that it had never endorsed Thompson, they have been clear to show that they are not part of his crusade. Whether there was previous dialogue between the two parties, Thompson now admits that he had never gained such endorsement, and believes that the open statement from them has to do with bigger corporations.

Whether it is in his slowly going crazy mind or reality, the Jack Thompson saga continues to draw laughs.

It is simple...he is an attention whore and this is his way of causing a commotion to attract said attention to himself. I hope someone finds him in the street and rapes his ass the he can have something to bitch about on the news.
