Ramblings, just ramblings
What is really the issue?
Published on July 22, 2004 By Amitty In Blogging
Okay, this is eating at me. I answered a blog about being gay. There was a person that jumped right in about the bible. Now, I am not a religious person. I have a hard time accepting blind faith.

I am really sick of people judging me for what I do in my home. It is not always a direct accusation, but a general accusation that infolds me because I belong to what is considered a sub-class of the human race. People say all the time that gay people are a abnormality, and that they were never made to be created....

well, what about animals?
Most mammal animals have been documented to engage in homosexual behavior if they are not mating. Surely I don't have to tell you about the Penguins, do I? So, are those animals wrong? Are they going against god's will?
The typical answer I have always gotten was : " Animals can't think, they don't know better."
Is that so?
God created everything, including the animals. So, are they doing god's will? Did God program them to do that, and if so, why not man and woman?
We need to procreate, to flourish the population. People, the way this earth is going, there won't be life in a thousand years. Instead of preaching about loveing thy brother, and condemning the gays, why don't you work on the Earth instead? The energy would be put to good use. Oh, I know, it's not your job, right? It's God's world, and because he forsaw all of this, you just have to trust him, right?

I have read the passages that people 'proclaim' that have to do with gays. You know, anything in the bible can be twisted to anything. The fact that people have to apparently ' tolerate' gays is not right.

Wanna hear a story? sure, everyone likes stories.

I attended a youth group when I was younger, and there was this girl that was gay. Openly gay, and no one said boo. But when I was openly gay, it wasn't right. Why is that? Can someone answer that? I was removed from the premises. I wasn't hitting on other boys, I wasn't trying to do anything except to be with my friends.
Three years later, the same parish minister that resided in the church, Miss _________, came out herself. To this day, she is allowed to preside in the same church I was kicked out of for being a person. Why?

I, unfortunately, don't have all the answers. I'm sure, from this point, there will be people that won't read my articles now, knowing that I am gay....why? Will my words and opinions sway them to take a little more heart towards the ' faceless gay army'? Or are they afraid they will see something of themselves in this faggot?

Whichever the case, it feels good to rant and maybe get feedback.

All of you gays are like clones, you all write the same articles over and over again.

Write something that doesn't concern you being a poofter and many people will read. I'm sure the fact that you are homosexual is not your one and only character trait?

I got your back!!!! I have several friends of the homosexual persuasion. Both male and female. All of them are welcome in my home. My BF used to be a homophobe until he met my friends Eric and Tim. They helped him relize that they were no different than any of my other friends. Yet when his buddies are over I can't mention them without everyone doing the whole "GAY dudes? Im not listening....LALALALALA" It drives me insane. Yet they find it ok to ask me if I when I am going to "dyke out" with one of my lesbian friends for my BF. Rock on and write on hon!
PS On my blog I wrote something somewhat similar to your article. It's called "Live and Let Live" Check it out if you want.

Missi7683: Thank you

Sir Pete: clones? that is hardly original.
After all, you yourself responded, didn't you?
As I have said, there are two types of gay people: people that are gay, and People that put being gay ahead of who they are. I am not the latter, tend to be a normal guy that happens to like boys. I have actually written 12 other articles that has nothing to do with this subject, if you even tried to look. It is a pet peeve issue at best, becasue people look at the other type of gay and base their opinions. Every pre-concieved notion of what a gay man comes into place as soon as it is unearthed that I am gay. Nevermind that I don't act like a stereotype, it is immediately applied to me. That is what I am bothered by.

You yourself, Sir Pete, have already assumed the worst because I blogged about this issue. I've read some of your stuff, and make no forcefuil judgements..actually liked some of your stuff until this...

Amitty, I am not trying to insult you, I have just read many articles that were almost exactly the same as this, written by gay bloggers. That it what I meant by clones.

I may have misjudged you and you may write about many other things aside from your homosexuality, I haven't read any of your articles yet so I can't make a fair judgement.

Thank dear boy. Maybe I should set up a 'Gay & Lesbian Friends of Sir Peter Society' to compliment the existing FOSP

I think that I was fortunate to be raised in a military family. From a young age I was exposed to every race, creed, color, belief and yes, sexual orientation. This experience has helped me to live my life in a way that I think is much more tolerant of different beliefs than individuals who were raised in a "one-culture" enviornment.

Does that mean I think homosexuality is a good thing? Does it mean I agree with any of the political or social ideals that I was exposed to? NO. It taught me that I should respect individuals as individuals and not force a stereotypical lable on them. It also taught me that if I don't stand up for what I believe in, my ideals will be trampled by the overwhelming from the other opinions out there.

So, yes, I think homosexuality is wrong. I think it's not what God intended for us. BUT I still treat every person I meet, gay, black, poor, rich or otherwise, with the same consideration and tolerance. That is what being Christian should mean. THAT BEING SAID, If you take your beliefs, (political, religious etc) and shove them in my face or attempt to influence my children in a way that I don't agree with, I will stand up and say something. I am very vocal about many things....but if you keep it within your home...I don't care.

Don't assume this is just on gays. I don't want to see or hear about ANYONE's sex life or obsesive religious beliefs unless I ask. (My father is a "born again" and thinks I'm going to hell too, because I don't believe in stoning gays and abortionists.) So live and let live. Enjoy life,

oh, no, I wouldn't think it was something you agreed with, and I don't think you shouldn't if you don't. I really want to thank you again for your post. Maybe others will read it and understand. I, personally, don't care if you think it's wrong or right, but that you are polite and respect the fact..no more pushing stuff into the faces of those that gay.

Lifehappens is right. It jsut isn't on gays. History has taught us that gays are just the latest....the history of our world is filled with instances of racial hatred too...blacks, Hispanic, Jews....Christians themselves were once fed to lions. So, before they remove the beam from thy neightbors eye, tend ot the mote in thy own...or something like that...
