Harry Potter and the Prisoners of Azkhaban
Like the rest of you, I ponied up my money a little while ago to watch the third silver screen adaption of J.K. Rowlings wildly successful franchise, Harry Potter. The third movie was a different movie, I'lll give you that.
I, too, was worried about the change of the director. I had yet to see his movie, Y' Tuma....whatever it was called. All I knew was that the Harry Potter I knew was starting to diminish, especially after hearing months of rumors that it wasn't even going to be made. But, when the release date hit, I was excited. It was released two days after my birthday, and I gathered a bunch of people together to share the excitement.
Wow, it was good. The special touch of the first two Harry Potter movies were gone, replaced by the darker aspect that I found didn't get introduced until OotP, and only a little. It showed me that the HP franchise was ready for adulthood.
The casting was good, but I was sad to see Dumbledore replaced after the death of the original actor. Snape seemed fatter. THe plot was a little on the thin side. Of course, comparing the movies to the book is never a good idea. * See future post on LotR*. A friend last night pointed out: " It was like the whole idea of the movie was that they arrived at school, incident occurs, they solve it."
Yeah, but what can you expect? Goblet of Fire, unfortunately, will be further storywise, brutalized. But that didn't mean that it wasn't a good movei, jsut not as great as it could be.
I will be in line for GoF, jsut because I love HP. There is something about the HP series that brings out hte kid in you, and these days we need all that kind of stuff we can get.
