BBC News released a article on the 28th stating the long-running cartoon series is going to ahve a character come out next season.

The Simpsons has lagged a little lately, and this could be a jump to boost ratings. The last big thing they had, really, was " Who Shot Mister Burns." The usual suspects have all been rounded up.

So, the question remains: Who will it be?

Many people I know bet Smithers. The thing is that the comedy of Smithers being gay is part of the show. We all KNOW Smithers is gay, but it's never been said. Some of the best lines have come from Smithers gay-related stuff.
" Dogs? Smithers, what would you think if I came into your house, sniffted your crotch and slobbered all over you?"
" If you did it sir...?"

It could be him, just because he's the first choice.

How about Selma? The twin sister that never tries for guys and was *suspected* of being in the Springfield gay Pride Parade last year. Sure she was married to Troy MaClure and Sideshow Bob, but in the closet people apparently do that.

Speaking of Troy, he is out..he likes sea animals...

Millhouse was a possibility in my mind, but I was reminded of the Future episode where Lisa and Marge are talking about Lisa losing her virginity to Millhouse, but it didn't count. But, to me, Millhouse ( Or forever in my mind thanks to the shoplifting/Bonestar Episode as Thrillho) comes off as gay.

So, who is it? Any ideas? Please, I want to hear from you all.

PS< I hope it isn't a one time character that comes out. The premise is that Homer becomes a minister to marry gays, and that is where it spawns from. I would like to see a continous gay character, or someone like John Water's character come back for a bit.

I know nothing of the Simpsons; but I hope it isn't the same old atrocious sterotyping of gays so many other programs exploit.

unfortunately, it probably will..that is the kind of society we live in. We only know how to live and stereotype...sad, isn't it Steve?

Maybe Ned Flanders will come out...

Barny? Lifetime Bachelor? I might be forgetting something about his past. Millhouse is a good guess, but if it is about marraige I would stick to people "of age", or else my guess would have been Lisa.

Reverend Lovejoy?

I think it could be Milhouse. Sure, they show that he has a crush on Lisa, but I remember an old episode in which the school counselour is talking to Homer and Marge in a flashback about how their son is showing so many signs of being a homosexual, and then they gasp and then the counselour realizes it's the wrong parents and Milhouse's name is on the file.
If it's not Milhouse (and I doubt it'll be Smithers, because that wouldn't be good, since everybody already knows he's gay), then I think it'd have to be... I don't know. The sailor?

maybe ralph wiggum? or Uter?

Maybe Reverend Lovejoy...wouldn't that be a kicker!

Or...(gasp!) Moe?

You guys have done it now...I'm going to be pondering this all night...lol

Wasn't Moe romantically linked a couple of times before?

Yes. He heard a girlfriend once. He's also the neighborhood lecher.

And now for a Simpsons quote that is now stuck in my head: "Alice in Wonderland, huh... Ah this must be a take off of the Alice in Underpants movie I saw."
