I caught onto Fox's The Family Guy after it had already been booted from the Fox television lineup. Fox made a big hit when it brought a little-known animated series to the forfront when it introduced The Simpsons. Before then, it was sitting on the Tracy Ullman show and suffering. In line came King of the Hill, Futurama, The Critic, and Family Guy. I am sure there were others, but they would be blips on the radar.
What Fox seemed to not realize was that the creator of The Family Guy, Seth MacFarland, seemed to have a edgier humor. Watching the show is pure fun. Unforunately, the viewers and Fox didn't think so. Family Guy was yanked off the air after three seasons, with a fourth never shown.
Now, Fox has made a living in our world of providing tasteless bile of programing and it saddens me to think that they would actually boot intelligent, while potty, programming. Since then, Fox has seemingly thrown away the book on any kind of tact and brought out such memorable programing as : Playing it Straight, Who wants to Marry a Millionaire, Quintuplets, Who wants to marry a Midget, etc. You get the point.
Som, when watching Celebrity Boxing II ( I never siad I didn't WATCH the crap), I watched a ad about the return of Family Guy. Not jsut in syndication hell, but a new episode. A brand new epsiode. Holy Crap! I didn't get to watch it though, sicne I got a free ticket to see AvP.
I have waited for this kind of opportunity. My only question is: Will it be censored? Meaning, will the old humor be there, or will it be moralised for the viewing audiences protection. One of the great things that made family Guy was the pushing of the boundries of political correctiness. If it becomes just another Simpons clone, I will be solely disappointed. But, with Fox's recent track record, that might not be a issue.
