Something to look forward to
When I saw the first trailer for Resident Evil 4 (exclusiveon the GameCube), I wasn't too impressed. The footage was grainy, yes, but they took a well-established game, and plopped it into the middle of no where.
But that I mean that they left Umbrella behind.
The ultimate in evil companies (take that, Microsoft!), seems to have disappeared from its place in the game franchise. Here, in the next installment of the game, we find a old friend in a new place. This new place is trapsing around a place in Europe looking for the daughter of the President of the United States.
So ends a era of zombies and enters a new relm of non zombies...but also not human.
There isn't a lot of Resident Evil 4 out there about story line, instead the press is explaining that there is more to the gameplay. There is A button activities, such as A buttoning a window open or jumping through it, a la' Metal Gear Solid. There is a wider range of weapons, including laser-sighting that allows the player to pick off parts of their attackers bodies. Sounds great, right?
Sure does. Only one question remains...what happened to the Umbrella Corp?
At the peak of the series, they were everywhere..but what happened? The story of the evil zombie creating corporating is unfinshed, left off like a bad ending.
While at first I didn't agree that the series needed a makeover badly, after thinking about it, I agreed. To make it into the next phase of gaming, something had to give. It is just ashame that they left the story of the other chapter unfinshed. Of course, by the time the game is out, we probably will have found that Umbrella is still around and behind the mess in the fourth in the series.
