THe most underrated character class in the game is White Mage.
I experienced living as a White Mage for quite a few days before I even got fed up with it. The white mage is one of the glue pieces to the perfect party. After all, who is gonna heal you? The Red MAge only seems to want to fight, and the Black mage can't heal. Sure, the Bard can give you 7 HP a tick back..at lvl 45. It takes two Red Mages to fill in for a white mage, so I figure you got the picture by now.
At lvl 14, as a white mage, I have never died so much. It seems that the people in the party, some being new at that lvl point, don't seem to understand keeping the white mage alive. Apparently it is okay to let them die, as long as you have your hit points over half. In the later lvls, of course there is a chance to save them, but I'm not at the higher lvls. I am at level 15 as of this writing.
So, fed up, I retreated to the safety of my bard class, now lvl 44, and resumed my bardic life. One of my party members remarked that I should get my white mage up to lvl 22, and sub it. Your subjob, for those of you that don't know, can be half your main job lvl. That is where the fun began. I asked him if he planned on taking the time to power level my mage, since I had died almost 20 times getting to level 15 from 13. He laughed and told me to get a newer party.
For people that haven['t played white mages, that is insulting. When you are at the bottom of the totem pole, you take what you can get.
So, the great White Mage experiment is off until I have time to actually sit down and put forth energy into it.
