Another Final Fantasy Entry
If you play the game, or know someone that does, you might have got caught up in the discussion of Gil Selling. FFXI message boards light up at the thought of botters camping items that would otherwise bring them good money.
In response to lvling whm, I decided for extra mp, to lvl my black mage. The theory is that to lvl bard, I must lvl whm as the support job, and to lvl whm, I need all the extra MP I can get, being Elvaan and all. How does this get ot deal with the Gil Selling issue and all, I'll get ot it.
I'm now a lvl 7 black mage. I must say, I am not enjoying it. But, like everything else, this class costs money. The thought of spending more money on a class that will be one of the very last I get to level 75 enraged me, but I did it. Now, I jsut needed money.
The patch that was released on Dec 8th dealt wit ha lot of stuff, but the key issue was the camping of NM for gil sellers. For those of you not in the loop, let me tell you what is going on. People in the game are camping high lvl drops and selling them for gil, the currency. In turn, they are offering it in real life for real money. There are people that make very good money doing this, I am told. I struck up a conversation with the gil seller's linkshell on my server and got the nitty gritty.
So, S-E in their way, decided to change all that. Did they get the drops to turn rare? no. Did they restrict the good money drops in any way? no. What did they do? They created different items that do somewhat the same things. That is all. Oh, and most NM have double spawn times, to increase the drops.
This, however, doesn't put a stop to the gil sellers. If anything else, they recruit more people to help them. I myself got a offer to join them at very good pay. I turned it down.
I suppose S-E should be given kudos for at least addressing ht eproblem, since EQ never did when it was a problem back in the day. I just think that they diudn't really solve anything at all. I'm hoping for feedback on this one guys.
