I had heard that there was a Final Fantasy movie hitting the streets that took up the story of our favorite heroes from Final Fantasy VII. Well, all ecpect that one dead girl anyway. The point is, after a long silene, FF VII, still a benchmark in videogame amazement, was coming back in style.
There are, also I might add, a couple of games that are also coming out that revisit parts of the FFVII mythos, one in particular, Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerebus. This first person type perspective game follows Vincent Valentine as he does stuff. Really, there hasn't been too much that I have read about.
And of course, there is the upcoming FF XII.
But, the story of Cloud and Co, which really started it for a lot of us, has been released in Japan, and it didn't take long for the bit torrents to jam the internet with copies everywhere. I myself downloaded on, but the subs didn't work. Instead, I watched 25 minutes of the most breathtaking movie I have seen in awhile. I was impressed with Final Fantasy: A Spirit Within, FF:AC takes it to a whole new level. While I am excited to see it subtitled so I know the whole story, just watching the first part made me yearn for more.
It for sure is a Final Fantasy year, with two games, a movie, and the upcoming XII. Whether we will see Final Fantasy XII will actually make it to the shores of north America before christmas, Final Fantasy: Advent Children will more than fill that missing part of your soul. Once I see the whole thing, I will report back.
