When I opened up a email from Blizzard entertainment a few months ago, I was a little shocked. I had signed up at the earliest possible date to join the World Of Warcraft beta and didn't make it into the first run. No matter, as a EQbeta tester, sometimes beta testing can be alittle bit of a hassle. After all, you are playing so that the developers can work the bugs out and make the game better. Blizzard's entrance in the world of the MMORPG, World of Warcraft, is nothing original. With th...
A couple of weeks ago, there was a intense rush going through all the gamers I knew in my old town. With the death of True Fantasy Live Online, the future of the Xbox relied on one other game coming out. That game, ladies and gentlemen, is Fable. THe epic RPG that judges you on every little dicision you make affects you in some way down the road. Sound familiar? There was a Ultima game that followed the same sort of thing. Ultima: Quest of the Avatar was the one, and since I only played it on...
As some of you might already read, Anne Riceis angry. USers of the site Amazon.com have been leaving less than flattering remarks about her final book in the Vampire Chronicles, andher career, and she isn't happy about it. A spokesperson for Amazon.com said: " If she choose to read and reply to the reviews, that is her decision. People may post what they want." Apparently what people want to post is not what the recently widowed writer wants to hear. "Writer Anne Rice, whose extra...
Harrry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is on it's way. It has been a littel over two years since R.K. Rowling had released the mixed bag that was Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. As many Harry Potter fans, I eagerly await news on the newest book by hitting R.K.'swebsite. When I found out that not only the title had been picked, but she was actually on her way to writing, I was excited. I myself, got into the HP thing a lot later than most. I actually read the first book in l...
So, I have moved. I have been in my new, smaller, more compact town for three weeks as of tomorrow. I have fallen into a funk. I immediately noticed too many differences in the first week. One, the movie theater plays hit movies...over a month after they ,would have hit my other town. that might not say a lot, but we just got Alien Vs. Predator. For a movie guy like me, that means I need to catch up. Second, getting a job. The largest company here is Wal-Mart, and I'm still waiting ...
Well, it's been awhile, but I am back. Moving is a bitch. The topic of discussion, which has awaken me at 6:30 in the am is Sony Entertainment's plans to move their gaming console forward. Like the first playstation, the Playstation 2 has moved into a newer design spectrum that is a little disturbing. http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media/1095733748.html Check the link, then come back. As you can see, the new PSTwo is about 75% the size and weigh of the old PS2. What does this mean? ...
I still remember the night I was introduced to a little budget indoe film by a then unknown director named Kevin Smith. Clerks was the reason I wanted to get into the writing or movie industry. There was a movie that showed that there is a attraction of audience to that kind of humor. I mean, the writing alone was amazing and top notch. Hot on the statement that ViewAskew (Kevin's production company) might not make it through the year, it is disappointing to know that all the man's wor...
When Dark Cloud was released for the PS2, I was extremely excited. It had the elements of a action/RPG with some cool stuff. The georama idea of rescueing towns and rebuilding them piece by piece was awesome. Unfortunately, that is where the fun stopped. I didn't get a instruction bookley, and had no idea how to upgrade my weapons for the longest time. The dungeons being random all the time got silly, and there was no total new content. Now, I got up the courage to get DC2, but it wasn't t...
Being a Canadian, I am not so much excited about the election in the states that is coming up. Unfortunately, that has all changed thanks to one of my favorite shows, the Daily Show with John Stewart. IT appears to me that the election is becoming a fiasco, much like the 2000 one was. Now, I know you have all heard the Micheal Moore versions, and the irrelivent spinning from this administration, but have you ever thought that this whole election year might be decided by fear. Ahh, fear....
I generally don't talk about my personal life online much. From experiences here and other places, usually anything mildly homosexual tends to gain a lot of negative press. Unfortunately, I am gay and this is sort of a gay subject. So, for all of you that want to read on, but don't like the gay taint to life, pretend i am talking about a girl. I will even purposely be abiguious. There is this person that I beleived that I liked a lot in the past. For two years I was infatuated to no ...
I am not a fan of the Xbox. In no way, shape, or form, am I a fan. But, when they released the details of their truly beautiful True Fantasy Online MMORPG, I was reconsidering the cosole. Hell, I've bought consoles for one game before. I bought my Gameboy ( the first one) for Pokemon. TFO looked beautiful, and by all accounts played well. Legions of fans were awaiting it. Before the proposed cancellation, In November of last year, the director behind TFLO, Yashishiro Maruyama, said tha...
Back in the day, when XP was rearing its head from the depths of Microsoft's Engineering division, Windows 2000 was considered the most pirated operating system at the time. Windows 2000, based on the NT (New Technology) platform, was a successful upgrade from NT 4.0. The stable kernel and programming that we saw hints of back in Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.5 were there to shine. Users flocked to it and service releases were common in 0 day warez sites. By the time the Windows XP had com...
I am moving next Sunday. My friends seemed pretty indifferent to the idea. At first I figured that there was a certain amount of disbelief there. After all, I had just come back from vacation and now I am moving. I actually started to think that maybe these people that I had invested my free time in were really not friends at all. I am a little unsure of it still, but people are gradually coming around and saying goodbye. I was supposed to have a party as a going away thing, but I cancell...
I am feeling very retro RPG this month and picked up a bunch of classic RPGs from my local EB. One of the titles was : Final Fantasy: Chronicles. I checked the back, murkily remembering that I had passed up the game a while ago, having both Final Fantasy II (IV) and Chrono Trigger for the SNES console. I still have the games, but can't find the SNES. So, I paid the $19.99 for the two disc set and took it home with a host of other RPGs. First, the classic Chrono Trigger: On the SNES , ...
Before I go into what would be a rant about movies, I would just like to state my position on movies in general: I love movies. All movies. I have watched some of the worst dreck imaginable, but did it again and again. Why? Maybe it is the fact that it is easy to get lost in the visual representation of someone's imagination. Hell, I OWN the DVD copy of Masters of the Universe, what does that tell you besides the fact I might have questionable taste? I reported earlier, there were talks wi...
